To have at least 3 emails to be added to one account.
I agree with the linking of more emails. You have multitude of contacts within one company. Always having to change emails to be able to send different people documents from the portal.
Yes! For example, it is confusing when the the 'husband' is the contact on the front page of the Contact tab, but the email address preferred for the Portal is for the 'wife'
Can't tell you how many times I have gone "sheesh!" because the husband wants one thing from the portal and the wife wants another thing.
Most important to allow the spouse's email to be the one linked to the Portal
Absolutely. We need to be able to have the alternate contact be the portal user for the account.
The ability to see if the email has an attachment without opening the email
Yes, please. Most of our small corporation and non-profit clients have 2-5 people we need to contact regularly, each with his/her own email address and phone number. And, many of our 1040 clients where each spouse has 2 or more email addresses &/or phone numbers in regular use. Searching for these can be very time consuming.
It is critical to have flexibility in the portal to be able to give multiple individuals access to each client, and allow each of those individuals to access multiple clients' portals, with the rights being different for each. If 4 people are owners of a entity & 2 of them are owners of a 2nd entity which also has a 3rd owner, & all 5 are individual clients, they should each have an individual portal login that will allow them to access their individual account & only the entity(ies) they own.
It would be easier for my business clients who have multiple entities and have many employees sending different documents. Currently I have to set-up each person separately and link through relationships and notes.
Or other contacts - client's bookkeeper for example.
I agree, the most important thing is better ability to control portal user rights for portal users and multiple people to have access to one portal folder for a business or a joint return for example. The option for multiple email address when sending emails to contacts, such as emailing invoices or statements to a bookkeeper or sending copies of tax returns to owner, or simply emailing husband or wife without having to click back through email or contacts tab to find alternate email address.
Yes!!!!! Maybe we could have the option of which one to upload to? On a MFJ return, with the wife 2nd on the return, we have to put her email address on the contact under his name and vice versa on the spouse contact because she's the one that wants all the correspondence. Then when the organizer goes out, they always cross out the email address & tell us to switch it.
I'd go one step further and add a secondary address as well. Billing addresses often differ from the business location.
I imagine this one is complicated, but it a great idea. Allowing multiple users access to the same set of portal docs for a bunch of reasons. Great idea.
This is why you need to use username and file folder to have multiple people access 1 document
A complete waste of valuable time to have to either change the email to the spouse's email so that he/she can retrieve documents from the portal.
Sending invoices to the main contact is not always desirable. There should be a default billing email contact so when emailing invoices you don't have to override the email to the Accounts Payable contact
It will be nice to have more than one email associated to the account for purposes of Mail Import. Sometimes, husband and wife would email us, but only emails from the husband gets imported via Mail Import because there's only one email to be associated to that client account.
This should be a bare minimum. Even better would be the other suggestion about allowing multiple emails to be associated with an account (ie controller, attorney)
running on a terminal server Windows 2008 R2 Standard unit... once we updates to this version that has the splash screen a user has been having issues with the load time of the program....... not sure how related yet.... any one else having issues?
YES we NEED this feature as well. It causes a lot of hassle in our office especially for couples who do not share an email address. Our office has called and asked for this for years.
"Synch "Spouse" email to portal " (suggested by Alison on 2018-06-01), including upvotes (142) and comments (9), was merged into this suggestion.
There is already a way to do it. Go to Billing TabInvoicesSelect 2 wheels: Contact Invoice SettingsText Optionin the box where is already an email, delete that and add additionalClick on 3 dots ...Click Addand CloseNext time you email this person it will go to all emails that you have added.
Ok, today took the cake. A client wants to sign via esignature, her email is on the portal, for HIM to sign as well, I have to put his email in as the main email, because he is first on the tax return. We need to be able to link the spouses email to the portal if we want to use e-signature.
Any update on this? Been "under consideration" for a long time.
